America’s Electric Cooperatives PAC
America’s Electric Cooperatives Political Action Committee (PAC) is dedicated to building key relationships with policymakers who champion issues impacting electric cooperatives and the people they serve.
Founded in 1966, the committee has tackled large issues protecting land owner rights and affordable electricity for rural citizens. Learn more by visiting NRECA’s PAC website.
The law allows individuals with common interests to pool their resources using 329 PACs in order to make political contributions to candidates for state and federal office. The candidates know electric cooperative members and employees who support them want to elect individuals to office who will make good policy decisions on their behalf.
Both PACs follow established procedures for making contributions to candidates running for political office.
Factors that determine financial support include:
- Candidate position on issues critical to electric cooperatives
- Candidate votes and public statements on these issues
- Candidate financial need and the strength of his or her opponent
The dedication of members standing together forms the backbone of Voice of Cooperative Power and both PACs. This powerful grassroots effort promotes policies to secure the future of sale, reliable and affordable electricity for our communities.
