water under a bridge

Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District (LSGCD) strives to ensure a supply of clean, affordable water for the future of Montgomery County, one of the fastest-growing counties in the country, with a population expected to exceed 1,000,000 in just 25 years. Every residence and business needs water in some capacity, and the District works to manage the amount of groundwater taken from below the surface on an annual basis.

The concept of groundwater management is as simple as balancing a checkbook – we must guard against pumping more groundwater than is replenished. However, the application is tricky because a number of unpredictable factors, including periods of drought, come into play.

LSGCD Mission

The mission of the Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District is to manage and protect the groundwater resources of Montgomery County and to work with others to ensure a sustainable, high-quality, and cost-effective water supply for current and future needs.
